I filmed, interviewed, and edited all of the contents of this video. This project was more difficult since I alone have to handle all of the responsibilities a video demands. The footage from the interviews totaled up to approxamently 33 minutes. It took several hours to weed through the interviews to even begin curating a storyline. My downfall when making this video was not allowing enough time to both film and produce.
I learned that videography is more than just “point and shoot.” When filming it is necissary to take time to prep each shot even if it means asking the interviewee to potentially clean their desk. Post production is like an entire project within its self. attention to detail is a necessity. The creative process of choosing order, which clips to use, where to cut, etc. is time consuming. That is worth it when once the video is curated from B roll to a quality compelling video.
I will be taking this project as a learning experience for time management. It is so important to look ahead to what is coming up next. I did not do a good enough job planning and therefore my video is not where I would have wanted it to be. I have also found a greater appreciation for group work. The pressure of this video falling completely on my own shoulders was a lot to handle but with better planning I know it could have been more successful.
