This semester in digital communications we discussed the many forms of digital literacy. One of which is network awareness. It is so important to be knowledgeable and aware of your network. I have become more aware of what sites I use, what gets posted to which platform, etc.
Every project came with its own learning experience. The project I valued most was podcast. It was the project by which I was the most intimidated. I had never edited audio before this class but I knew it would be a picky and time consuming project, much like all of the other projects this semester. I ended up really enjoying the processes of sound editing.
I see the Digital Communications course as a key cornerstone to the communication studies major. In today’s society communication is more often conveyed in a digital manner. As someone in pursuit of a career in PR and marketing all of the information in this course has enriched my ability to perform in my desired field. I came into this class not very confident about my creative skills, but after this class I have realized that I have a knack for thinking creatively.
I certainly hope that the knowledge of digital literacy that I have gained from this course will allow me to apply these concepts to my career. Knowing how to appeal to the eye in a digital consumer’s society is so critical in PR and marketing. I hope that I will be able to use these new skills to promote quality people, companies, and brands to consumers around the world.
